We have more news from our WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Programme in the Dominican Republic. There is a total of around 100 community members attending five Community Health Clubs. Each club has assigned its own name, and even a song! This is fabulous news, as it shows the groups are taking ownership and making it locally applicable.
We are also working on aligning our clean water initiatives with this WASH Programme, this will allow them to compliment each other.
The University will be down there next week to do more training as well as gather field data on the parasite burden among families in our communities. This will be really useful to give us some baseline data, that we can compare against in the future...as well as measure the effectiveness of our existing de-worming programme.
