Muli bwanji mzanga. How are you my friend?

This is our second newsletter this year and it is very hard to believe we are in the second quarter already!  As I write this I am struck by not only how time has flown by but also at how much has been achieved.

In February, a group from a partner organization called World Water Relief  constructed, and installed a water purification system at Los Robles in the Dominican Republic. This system uses charcoal filters and UV light to filter and purify water to a very high standard.  This is the first of two such systems, the next will be installed this month in Don Bosco which is also in the Dominican Republic.  These systems are providing clean water that will be locally available for the first time ever! There will be similar systems installed at Pueblo Nuevo and one is already in place at Altagracia.

As these system run, we have also began our first Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Program (WASH). This is through a wonderful partnership with the University of Texas at San Antonio.  The staff  at the University  have been a fantastic asset in designing this community driven initiative that seeks to educate, mobilize, and empower local people in issues and problems associated with water, sanitation and hygiene.  These programs have been a great blessing by not only providing education  but also provide real time solutions through water purification!

Zikomo! Thank You!

All of this has been made possible by the support,  and prayers of you. Malia and I are always blown away by your generosity and support as well as God’s provision.  This year  God has provided us with additional funds, above and beyond our regular support, and we are well on our way to reaching our goal!  However, in this next quarter, we are praying fervently, and expectantly for an additional $2,000 of ministry support.   If you would be interested in an extra gift at this time CLICK HERE, OR if you would like to refer us to someone in your circle of friends please send us a text message or an email.  It is always hard and humbling to ask for financial support but we also strongly believe what we are doing and know that God will provide!

As always thank you so much for your love, friendship, prayers, and support.

Program Highlight

This is Wezzie, she is part of the Madalitso Widows Program in Malawi. She supports seven children. Her first husband died of TB and she was forced into a second marriage and when her second husband left she was left with nothing. Children of the Nations enrolled her in the Widows Program and her life has been changed dramtically! I have stood in her home, and seen how much progress she has made.  She now is able to provide for herself and all of her children with the help of this skills training program.

Soon her items will be available for purchase online through a new partner organization called Market Colors!

  New Well

Ngolala, in Sierra Leone. Here dirty water is the only water. This year we plan on changing this and digging a well for the first time in this village!  This will bring clean, clear, and fresh water to families and children every day.

We are also planning one in Chilombo, Malawi. Here the well is uncovered and dirty. Both wells will  cost around $8,000 each  - a truly sustainable investment! So far $5,000 has been raised for the Sierra Leone well! Please contact me, if you would like to help us finish our fundraising...
