Nothing but net

This week we sent finances for 400 mosquito nets, to Chilombo village in Malawi. This should be right on time as they enter into the rainy season, and as malaria increases as a result. These nets are great news for me, as I spent some time in Chilombo and it is a village with many challenges due to its rural location and subsistence existence. As always with these things villages like Chilombo get the sharp end of the stick, as malaria is especially virulent for the weak, poor and uneducated.

A net costs $8, and the drugs to treat malaria are $10 per infection. Seems like an obvious choice right? Every year we loose a child or two from malaria, every year dozens of our kids will have a bout of malaria...its unavoidable in Malawi. But with a net, we can really reduce those numbers and keep children out of the hospitals. Stop anyone in the street in Malawi, and they will more than likely have had malaria at least once in their life, most have had it several times. But we must believe there is hope, hope for Malawi, and this week hope for Chilombo. Next thing for them...blankets for the dry and cold season...

Children and the Nations, and people like you, are making it possible to send this money through child sponsorship. Malia and I sponsor a girl in Sierra Leone, she receives first class care and is able to focus on school and her future. She always sends us letters and is so grateful for a chance to progress with her future. You should think about sponsoring a child today...
